APRIL BASS is our EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. April has over 43 years of experience in Early Childhood Education; she founded Kinder Works in 1985. 13 years before Kinder Works, April began as a Teacher, then became Coordinator of Education with Head Start of the Lehigh Valley, and then Deputy Director of the Housing Authority Preschool System in Philadelphia. She has participated in and directed various Federal, State, and University grants to conduct educational research, to develop demonstration programs and environments, and to create teacher-training models. April has designed and developed 48 early childhood programs, and is a consultant to both the public and private sectors. April’s bachelor’s (cum laude) and master’s degrees are from Barnard College and Columbia University. She is also trained in the Montessori Method.
DEBBIE SCHMIDT is our HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR. Debbie has worked with Kinder Works since 1986, where she began as a teacher, became a Director, and also served as Deputy Director. Her undergraduate degree is from Lock Haven University and her graduate work was done at Temple University, in Early Childhood Education. She is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Certified Teacher.
NICOLE STEWART is our MENTOR DIRECTOR AND DIRECTOR IN LIMERICK. Nicole has been working with preschoolers since 1993 and joined the Kinder Works staff in 1995. She was a Teacher with us for seven years and became Director of Kinder Works in Sellersville in 2002. Nikki then transferred to be the Director in Montgomeryville in 2004. Her degree is from Bucks County Community College and she is certified as a Teacher by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Early Childhood Education.
JOANNA McCARTNEY is our PROGRAM COORDINATOR. Joanna graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. She joined Kinder Works in 2003 with three years of experience teaching in Harrisburg and in the North Penn School District. Joanna was a Preschool & Kindergarten Class Teacher, Language Arts Specialist, and Center Director with us before becoming our Program Coordinator; she is certified as a Teacher by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
ROBIN JEFFRIES is our DIRECTOR IN DOYLESTOWN. Robin has her bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University. She taught for two years in New Jersey, and then taught Kindergarten for seven years in Pennsylvania before joining our staff in 2003; she is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Certified Teacher. Robin was a Kindergarten Teacher and a Language Arts Specialist at Kinder Works before stepping into the role of Director.
ALESHA SETERNUS is our DIRECTOR IN MONTGOMERYVILLE. Alesha graduated cum laude from West Chester University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is an active member of the Starlight Children’s Foundation for seriously ill children, and has participated in research studies pertaining to emotional attachments between children and their parents/guardians. Alesha joined our staff in 2011 with two years of experience working with children.
AMBER FURITSCH is our ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IN MONTGOMERYVILLE. Amber has her bachelor’s degree in Education from Temple University, and is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Certified Teacher. She had five years of experience teaching toddlers and preschoolers before joining our staff in 2007.
CHELSEA WILLMOTT is our ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR. Chelsea joined us in 2009, working in our central office assisting our fiscal department. By 2013, she was handling most phases of fiscal work and was traveling to our centers to assist with compliance procedures. In 2015, she started developing digital applications for Kinder Works. She continues to create and monitor digital processes, as well as handling our fiscal department receivables, and administrative issues for Kinder Works. Chelsea has her bachelor’s degree in English from Arcadia University.
