At Kinder Works, our Toddler curriculum is based on current brain research, early childhood education and developmental psychology. Through careful observation we can assure that individual developmental needs are being met.

The children are involved with a specific set of teachers and can enjoy a variety of activities in their company. We make sure that we maintain program flexibility because these early years mean rapidly changing needs as each child grows through many stages of development.

Our curriculum addresses all areas of development. We do this by carefully planning and coordinating five areas:

  • SEL (Social Emotional Learning, or “EQ”)
  • Language Arts
  • Early Logic & Exploration
  • Gym & Music
  • Creative Expression

Our Daily Schedule affords specific time every morning and every afternoon for a teacher-directed lesson in each of these five curriculum areas. The classrooms are carefully prepared so that all children can also explore safely and experience self-directed activities. (AM & PM activities are different for Full Day children.)

Sample Toddler Daily Schedule

Extended Hours (structured play): Opening – 9:00 am & 5:00 – Closing 
Diapers/Potty/Handwashing: on demand and at least every 2 hours
Snack & Water: on demand and offered at 10:00 am, 3:30 pm, and 5/5:15 pm
Naptime for Full Day Toddlers, after lunch, from noon to 2:00 pm (naps also offered on demand, as needed)

AM lessons and activities are different from PM lessons and activities:

Creative Expression 9:00-9:30 am and 2:00-2:30 pm

  • Visual Art Project
  • Dramatic Play/Pretending
  • Building Materials

Early Logic & Exploration 9:30-10:00 am and 2:30-3:00 pm

  • Science Experiences and Nature Explorations
  • Number Concepts
  • Sorting, Classifying, Measuring, Observing and Predicting

Gym & Music (and Snack) and Outside Play 10:00-11:00 am and 3:00-4:00 pm

  • Gross Motor Activity – Gym & Playground
  • Musical Experience – Rhythm, Dance, Instruments, Songs

SEL (or “EQ”) Activity 11:00-11:30 and 4:00-4:30 pm

  • Social/Emotional Relations – Role playing, Cooperative games
  • Self Concept and Identifying Feelings – Games and reinforcement for expressing feelings 
  • Games and reinforcement involving self help skills, choice, and sense of self

Language Arts 11:30-12:00 noon and 4:30-5:00 pm

  • Story time
  • Finger Plays, Listening and Responding activities and games
  • Identifying Symbols, Pictures and References, Environmental Writing, Figure/Ground, Spatial Relations; beginning Sign Language
  • Pre-writing activities
